Hosted by the St. Albert Public Library’s Writer-in-Residence, Richard Van Camp, this is a rare opportunity to see the work of some of Canada’s best Indigenous filmmakers. For teens and adults.

10 AM – 5 PM    Dreaming of Canada    Art Gallery of St. Albert
The Art Gallery of St. Albert is celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017 with a mail art extravaganza. Mail art is a playful artistic movement, centered on the sharing of small-scale art using the postal service. Through Mail Art, the Dreaming of Canada project shares aspirations, hopes and impressions surrounding Canada. Send us your mail art by August 22 to be included in the virtual exhibit. A selection of works will be selected from the project for an exhibition during Alberta Culture Days. The full exhibit and more information on taking part is available at http://dreamingofcanada.ca/

10 AM – 5 PM    Dreaming of Canada    Art Gallery of St. Albert

10 AM – 12 PM   Celebrate!  St. Albert Public Library  

A drop-in program for families. Come design and build your own cardboard box car and then drive it into the Library’s “movie theatre” for some great Canadian, family-friendly films from the National Film Board.

 

 

11 AM – 1 PM   Multicultural Fest!      Lion’s Park
St Albert will be hosting their very first Multicultural Fest. Come and enjoy the music and dance of the many different cultures that make up the fabric of Canada. Participate in the fun activities that will be provided at the event. This is provided by the Welcoming & Inclusive Community Initiative – It Starts With Me (St. Albert Community and Social Development) and The Collective.   Rain out contingency – find us in Progress Hall, St. Albert Place. 

11 AM – 4 PM     Watch, Create & Play!   St. Albert Place 
The St. Albert Place Visual Arts Council will be set up in the studios and halls of St. Albert Place for the following exhibits and interactive demonstrations and crafts:

  • Painter’s Guild – painting canvasses and doing pastels
  • Potter’s Guild – wheel demonstrations
  • Paper Arts Guild – calligraphy and book binding
  • Floral Arts Society – corsage making
  • Quilter’s Guild – hands-on quilting activity

1 – 4 PM     Feathers and Fur    Visual Arts Studio Association  (VASA),  25 Sir Winston Churchill Avenue
All ages are invited to the VASA classroom to watch and practice the techniques, Tammy Taylor uses to create the illusion of feathers and fur. Tammy and other professional artists will be available to assist everyone with practicing the drawing techniques that she has developed. Acrylic paint and canvas will also be available for anyone that has more time. The VASA Gallery will be featuring Tammy’s paintings and she will be demonstrating her techniques on one of her high realism paintings. All materials will be supplied.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2017

1 – 3 PM     Calligraphy in the Copperplate Style  Little White Schoolhouse, 2 Madonna Drive
Step back in time on Culture Days with the Art Gallery of St. Albert and St. Albert Cultivates the Arts.  Take a seat in the Little White School House, dip your pen in the ink and enjoy the meditative process of learning calligraphy in the Copperplate Style. Led by Dayle Lambert, this class is open to adults and youth over the age of 12.  All materials included.  Preregistration required for this free event in celebration of Culture Days.  Please register through the Art Gallery of St. Albert.
